While the mainstream media is incessantly harping on the theory that the only possible reason that President Trump could have fired Comey was to avoid any investigation into the ‘Russian connection’, we know better. Firstly, such a move would have practically guaranteed further investigations into any Russian connections, not prevented it. Second, Comey has more than once proved himself to be grossly incompetent, so incompetent that at one point both sides of the aisle wanted him gone.
In the following video, Right Wing News looks at the latest theory being put forward as the reason for Comey’s firing; he refused to reveal the identities of the ‘Obama unmaskers’. When the Trump administration requested this information, he tried to stall them out, dragging his feet in providing such information to the administration. And rightfully so, he was let go from his job. Will the left wing media report on this angle of the story?

FOX News national security expert Catherine Herridge told The Five last night that FBI Director James Comey was fired because he refused to reveal the Obama administration “unmaskers” to President Trump.
The Obama administration spied on and unmasked the identities and conversations of several Americans in 2016 including officials close to President-elect Donald Trump.
General Michael Flynn resigned after Obama officials leaked his discussions with the Russian ambassador – which were completely legal – to the liberal media.
Herridge said Comey stalled turning the information over to the Trump administration.
Catherine Herridge: The accusation against the former FBI director, and this comes mostly from Republicans, is that he has been sort of slow walking records about the Americans who were identified or unmasked in these intelligence reports and providing them to Congress. And the reason that’s a big deal is that everyone in the IC, in the intelligence community knows that there is no bigger, deeper, wider, extensive paper trail than there is when you unmask or identify an American citizen. And it should not take months. It should take weeks if not the course of several days to know who was unmasked and who made those requests and that has not been provided.

If ‘Comey’s revenge’ were a movie, it would be a flaccid sequel that can only make the original look even worse for having spawned it. In the latest development, the left and their mainstream media stooges are hyping up Comey’s memo as the thing that would prove that Trump only fired him to prevent investigation into the same tired Russian connection. But as proper analysis shows, Comey is only painting himself into a corner.
Now, consider the legal dilemma that Comey’s memo poses, not to President Trump, but to himself. If Comey really suspected Trump of ‘obstructing justice’ then under law he is legally obligated to immediately inform the DOJ, something he did not do. But if there was no obstruction of justice, then Trump is cleared of any crime. So which is it, Comey?

James Comey was lying in wait.
His gun was cocked, he took aim and fired. But his weapon was empty.
Three months ago, the then-FBI Director met with President Trump. Following their private conversation, Comey did what he always does –he wrote a memorandum to himself memorializing the conversation. Good lawyers do that routinely.
Now, only after Comey was fired, the memo magically surfaces in an inflammatory New York Times report which alleges that Mr. Trump asked Comey to end the Michael Flynn investigation.
Those who don’t know the first thing about the law immediately began hurling words like “obstruction of justice”, “high crimes and misdemeanors” and “impeachment“. Typically, these people don’t know what they don’t know.
Here is what we do know.
Under the law, Comey is required to immediately inform the Department of Justice of any attempt to obstruct justice by any person, even the President of the United States. Failure to do so would result in criminal charges against Comey. (18 USC 4 and 28 USC 1361) He would also, upon sufficient proof, lose his license to practice law.
So, if Comey believed Trump attempted to obstruct justice, did he comply with the law by reporting it to the DOJ? If not, it calls into question whether the events occurred as the Times reported it.
Obstruction requires what’s called “specific intent” to interfere with a criminal case. If Comey concluded, however, that Trump’s language was vague, ambiguous or elliptical, then he has no duty under the law to report it because it does not rise to the level of specific intent. Thus, no crime.
There is no evidence Comey ever alerted officials at the Justice Department, as he is duty-bound to do. Surely if he had, that incriminating information would have made its way to the public either by an indictment or, more likely, an investigation that could hardly be kept confidential in the intervening months.
Comey’s memo is being treated as a “smoking gun” only because the media and Democrats, likely prompted by Comey himself, are now peddling it that way.
Comey will soon testify before Congress about this and other matters. His memo will likely be produced pursuant to a subpoena. The words and the context will matter.
But by writing a memo, Comey has put himself in a box. If he now accuses the President of obstruction, he places himself in legal jeopardy for failing to promptly and properly report it. If he says it was merely an uncomfortable conversation, he clears the president of wrongdoing and sullies his own image as a guy who attempted to smear the man who fired him.
Either way, James Comey comes out a loser. No matter. The media will hail him a hero.
After all, he gave them a good story that was better than the truth.
